Dr. Verena Buback

Dr. Verena Buback is Head of Sustainable Procurement at Merck. She is accountable to transform Merck’s supply chain into a more sustainable one and meet the company’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Scope 3 emissions targets for purchased goods, services and capital goods. In her previous role as Head of Operational Excellence in Corporate Affairs her responsibilities included strategy development & implementation, governance, communication and change management. Previously, Dr. Buback has held several positions within Merck Electronics and Merck Biopharma R&D. Her broad experience includes chemical process development from lab to production scale and drug development from early clinical phase to application for market authorization. Dr. Buback holds a PhD in chemistry.
