Christian Schmalz is an independentconsultant with a focus on digitalisation and optimisation of the organisation in purchasing.

The challenges that SMEs in particular face in implementing sustainability in procurement have prompted him to pool his experience in a consulting approach for Impact Procurement. He believes there is an opportunity for many SMEs to turn the new regulatory requirements into a real competitive advantage.

He started his career over 20 years ago, initially as a process optimisation consultant for ERP implementations. Later, he used procurement as an important lever in strategic cost reduction programmes and himself managed operational procurement functions with procurement volumes > €1 billion.

As an ambassador of the Sustainable Procurement Pledge, he is committed to the sustainable orientation of procurement. In transformation projects, he propagates a best-of-breed approach and focuses on the governance of supplier master data.
