Dr. Thomas Papke

Dr. Thomas Papke in his role as V. P. Procurement Lufthansa Group oversees the procurement processes of all Lufthansa group companies. As global Process Owner Procurement, he bears group-wide responsibility for the performance and compliance of the Lufthansa procurement organization. In 2017, Lufthansa implemented a matrix organization; Thomas was the leading head in managing this transformation for the procurement department(s). With the overall objective of making procurement more effective and focusing on the group optimum, he introduced a group-wide cluster management.

Thomas looks back on a long, successful career in purchasing: starting as a project manager for material management systems at Lufthansa Technik in 1987, his path took him over Beijing (AMECO) and Luxembourg (Cargolux) back to Hamburg where he worked as VP Strategic Purchasing at Lufthansa Technik from 2002 until 2007. After a 3year intermezzo as Managing Director Aerologic in Leizpig, Thomas became Head of Procurement at Lufthansa Passenger Airlines in Frankfurt. Two years later, in 2012, he became responsible for the Lufthansa Group procurement reporting directly to the CFO.

Thomas was born in Cuxhaven, is married and has three children. He is a sailing freak and loves to spend his free time on a boat.
