Yvonne Jamal is Chairwoman of the JARO Institute for Sustainability & Digitization e.V. in Berlin. The institute wants to achieve that sustainable action becomes the standard for the economy. It is fully committed to sustainable procurement, imparts the necessary knowledge, networks stakeholders in a targeted manner and provides support in the planning and implementation of sustainability projects. The business administration graduate previously held a management position in Indirect Procurement at Zalando SE. She was initially responsible for travel management and the introduction of a digital travel expense report. Later, she built up the Indirect Procurement department and the selection and introduction of a digital procurement solution, for which she and her team were nominated for the BME's eSolution Award in 2017. She is a member of the regional board of the BME Berlin-Brandenburg and, since this year, also a member of the expert group for sustainability at the Bundesverband Mittelständische Wirtschaft e.V. (BVMW). Yvonne Jamal started her professional life in the tourism industry and spent several years abroad for an international tour operator. Her time in the Maldives and the ecological challenges of the country in particular sparked her interest in sustainability issues. In order to qualify in the field of sustainability, she completed the scientific training "Sustainable Management and CSR" at the University of Rostock.
