Thomas Heine
The Sustainable Procurement Pledge
Thomas Heine is the past Co-Chair of the Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP) Germany Chapter (spp.earth) and editor of the sustainable procurement magazine Kleine Kniffe (nachhaltige beschaffung.com). In spring 2024, the Germany Chapter merged with the DACH Chapter and continues to be very active in the region under the leadership of Giuliana Orsini and Thomas Janvier.
At SPP, we speak of SPP as an international movement, while the regional chapters such as DACH have a local focus. Globally, we rely on a strong network of more than 20,000 ambassadors, all procurement professionals who recognize the key role of sustainable procurement in building a future that is fit for our grandchildren. Our mission is fundamentally inclusive – we work for people and planet alike, which lies at the core of everything we do.
Thomas Heine represents the initiative Active for Sustainable Public Procurement at the opening event of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) on the reform of public procurement law, and he has been appointed as a participant in the round table of the National Circular Economy Strategy (NKWS).
He moderates panel discussions and gives presentations on topics such as: sustainable transformation of companies, sustainable supply chains, product carbon footprint and decarbonization in supply chains, sustainable orientation of purchasing, digitalization of procurement, and the legislative and economic framework conditions for sustainable transformation.
