Niels Walberg
K+S Aktiengesellschaft
Niels Walberg is Chief Procurement Officer of the K+S Group, a global and independent supplier of mineral products for agriculture, industry, consumers and communities, which operates mines and other production sites in Europe, North and South America.
The business economist (WA) and lawyer by education has been working for K+S for more than 20 years, initially in the legal department and for 20 years now in various purchasing functions. In 2013, he assumed the global role for the purchasing department of the K+S Group.
One focus of his work was on combining the various regional and global purchasing functions. Process and data standards were jointly developed in order to further develop the purchasing organization from a transparent and well-structured basis. Thus, the identification and strategic processing of regional and global purchasing categories was significantly advanced.
Building on this, a further focus is on the standardization and further development of purchasing systems and tools as well as purchasing controlling and reporting from local to global level.
In addition to direct savings as an essential part of purchasing performance, the wise use of suitable technology and its timing is one of the key factors for the value added that purchasing provides to K+S.
